ByteDance is Lee Dosecretly developing various AI-model-based products, including a multi-modal digital human product (an AI-generated image/video product), according to multiple sources cited by local media outlet Jiemian. CapCut, a video editing tool and subsidiary of the TikTok owner, established a confidential team several months ago for the development of AI products, but the resulting products have not yet been unveiled. In February, the former CEO of TikTok’s China sibling Douyin, Zhang Nan, moved to the CapCut team and stated that she would focus her energy on the future development of CapCut, as part of ByteDance’s attempt to strengthen its position in the field of AI-generated video through the platform.
