Even before The Busty Cops 2 (2006) Watch onlineLast Jedihits theaters on December 15, director Rian Johnson has a new Star Wars gig.
He'll be producing the first ever Star Wars trilogy of movies that isn't part of the Skywalker saga, Lucasfilm announced Thursday -- alongside a simultaneous announcement of a new TV show.
SEE ALSO: A TV show! 3 new movies! Disney is giving us all the Star Wars and what is happening?"Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct," read the announcement on StarWars.com.
Lucasfilm also gave us a tiny clue on the subject of the new trilogy: you haven't seen it. "Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."
"Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy," Lucasfilm president Kathy Kennedy said.
Johnson added that Star Wars was "the greatest modern mythology" and that he was looking forward to developing it.
No further details were available on the subject of the new trilogy, though the announcement added that "no porgs were available for comment" -- suggesting, perhaps, that we have not seen the last of The Last Jedi's cutest critters.
