When a little dog found itself stuck in a lagoon on Watch FriendsWednesday, two brave police officers came to the rescue and pulled the pup out.
That, however, was just the beginning of the ordeal.
"As soon as the dog’s feet hit the ground, without so much as a thank you, it ran off towards the tot lot where several families were playing," the Milwaukee Police Department wrote on Facebook.
"Minutes later, there was another splash. The dog jumped back into the water."
This time, the dog was too far out to be reached by a snare or net, so the officers called the fire department for a boat.
"While waiting for the boat, they were trying to coax the dog back to shore. After a few minutes the officers could see the animal was starting to struggle in the thick weeds and muck. That’s when Officer Spingola said he had to go in."
As he was "swimming towards the dog, the dog was struggling to keep afloat. When he reached him, the dog was wrapped up in the weeds, tangled in fishing line and had a hook and bobber hanging from him."
As you can see from the video above, the story has a happy ending. Now all they need is for the owner to claim the "happy and healthy" brown poodle mix.
