Swedish actor Max von Sydow,male auto-eroticism who played the Three-Eyed Raven on Game of Thrones, has died at 90.
Von Sydow played Father Merrin in The Exorcistand was nominated for two Oscars during his career (the only Swedish actor to be nominated), for Pelle the Conquerorin 1987 and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Closein 2011. In addition to starring in 11 Ingmar Bergman films, von Sydow had a packed Hollywood career, including Minority Report, Shutter Island, and as the Bond villain Blofeld in Never Say Never Again. He even punched his Star Wars card in 2015 with The Force Awakens.
Though he only appeared in three Game of Thronesepisodes (taking over the role from Struan Rodger), von Sydow made a huge and lasting impression on fans as the Three-Eyed Raven, a being who knows and sees all and guides Brandon Stark to do the same. His final episode was "The Door," in which Bran learns the truth of Hodor's past and officially takes over when von Sydow's Raven dies.
He is survived by his four sons, and his wife, French documentarian Catherine von Sydow.
