SEE ALSO: Biggest problem with Fox's live 'Rocky Horror': It's not liveThe latest live event for the small screen on Fox is the long-running Broadway musical Rent, Varietyreported Friday.
You might know the musical, created by the deceased Jonathan Larson, for its earworm "Seasons of Love" (it's the song that breaks down the number of minutes in a year, along with cups of coffee, sunsets, and most importantly, love). Or from its 2005 film adaptation starring Rosario Dawson, Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs, and others from the original Broadway cast.
The dark rock musical focuses on New York artists struggling to survive with drug addictions and HIV/AIDS and is based on Puccini's opera, "La Boheme." The live adaption has a slate of producers attached to it, according to Variety, but no word yet on who will play Mark, Roger, Mimi, Maureen, and the other colorful characters.
Fox put on a live production of "Grease" last year, another play-turned-movie-turned-live TV event, but no word on when Rentwill happen.
The live show was one of many live adaptation announcements Friday. Other live adaptations on various networks include Fox's A Christmas Story, NBC's Jesus Christ Superstarfor Easter 2018, A Few Good Men, and Bye Bye Birdie.
Hopefully Rentwill be blasting from our TVs within 525,600 minutes.
