The Hollywood Reporterannounced that the original Gossip Girl creators team of Joshua Safran, Stephanie Savage, and Josh Schwartz are re-joining forces to write an "update" series on HBO Max that picks up with a new generation of privileged New York City teens, and a (probably) new Gossip Girl.
While there's no information on the plot of the series or if any OG characters will make an appearance on the show, the logline published in THRconfirms that the new series will take place years after Serena, Dan, Blair, Chuck, and Nate have moved on from high school:
"Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years."

For now, there's only the hope that the new Gossip Girlseries will match the pure, sell-your-girlfriend-for-a-hotel-and-push-your-dad-off-a-roof bonkerness of the original.
XOXO,
