But if the price was still keeping you on the fence, we have some good news: At IFA 2018, Dell announced a new model that starts at $899, making the laptop even more attractive, especially for budget-strapped students.

Sure, you're trading in performance for a $100 in savings, but if you're a student and you're spending most of your time writing, watching videos, streaming music, or doing other non-intensive tasks, the Core i3 version's not a bad option.

As with the XPS 13, the machines have very slim bezels (5.2mm thick if you're dying to know) around the Quad HD+ "InfinityEdge" touchscreen, support Dell's Active Pen stylus, and have up to 15 hours of battery life. Dell also says the fanless design also makes the XPS 13 2-in-1 really quiet.
The configurations are all pretty standard stuff: up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. For ports, the laptop comes with a Thunderbolt 3 port, a USB 3.1 port, headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. You can also get an optional Windows Hello-ready fingerprint sensor.
The updated XPS 13 2-in-1 will be available in the U.S. on Sept. 11 starting at $999.99.
