His administration has also aggressively pursued investigations into those who leaked information to the press.

The President finished with statements that seemed squarely aimed at the near future, particularly with how the spread of misinformation and confusion have flourished.

"It doesn't work if we don't have a well-informed citizenry and you are the conduit," Obama said. "We need you to establish a baseline of facts and evidence to use for a starting point for debates that ultimately lead to progress."
