If you thought the current unicorn trend would quietly peter out of the news cycle and sex contest videosyour social media feeds, you were severely mistaken.
Let's make this clear: The unicorn will never die.
Just in case you question this fact, we have definitive proof. Starbucks' Unicorn Frappuccinos have come to the end of their limited edition run but people are already experimenting with new recipes in order to create the "unicorn lemonade."

The idea for unicorn lemonade appeared on Reddit, under a post with the title, "My coworkers and I got creative with the new powders." The picture that once accompanied the post has since been deleted, presumably because baristas did not want the drink idea to spread to social media and cause tons of people to ask for it in store.
But the internet is never that merciful. The image immediately blew up on Instagram and the unicorn lemonade idea is now everywhere.

There are several ways people have attempted to recreate the ombre effect of the drink.
According to a description posted on the original Reddit post, the drink on the left is layered raspberry lemonade. The bottom half is mixed with Starbucks' blue unicorn powder and the top with pink powder. The drink on the right is lemonade with blue powder on the bottom and passion tea on top.
Cosmopolitan attempted both of these recipes and got less than stellar final results. But they did manage to achieve a nice pink-to-yellow ombre drink by ordering a regular lemonade and asking the barista to sprinkle some of the pink powder on top. Others are mixing lemonade with both pink and blue powders.

Perhaps the best part of this unicorn lemonade revelation is how desperately Starbucks baristas attempted to keep the drink idea a secret, and how utterly futile their efforts ultimately were.
Poor baristas everywhere will probably be rescued from this particular trend soon as Unicorn Frappuccino ingredients are close to gone. But we have no doubt that people will come up with other ways to make unicorn-themed anything live on.
