011 Archivespresident's visit to the Vatican has brought the world plenty of memes, but amidst all the images of Pope Francis glaring in the presence of Donald Trump, there's one thing we all almost missed — the mysterious figure quietly lurking in the back of the photos.
The photobomber, as Business Insider pointed out, appears in multiple photographs taken during the very awkward encounter between the two leaders.
But turns out he's not just a stranger trying to cause a ruckus for laughs — the expert photobomber plays the very necessary role of translator to the Pope. BIidentified the hilarious unintentional photobomber as Monsignor Mark Miles, a man who has served as the Pope's translator for awhile now, due to the fact that the Pope speaks Spanish, Italian, French, and German, and rarely English.
He even appeared in photographs with Barack Obama, though not quite in same way that induces chuckles like his peeping behind the Pope and Trump.
There isn't much information about him online, spare the fact he was born in Gibraltar where he served as a Catholic priest, and later was awarded Medallion of Distinction in the country before becoming an interpreter for the Pope.
But wow, he can lurk!
