Though President Donald Trump loves to publicly bash the "failing" New York Times,Peter Baumgartner the publication is attracting a YUGE number of subscribers.
On Tuesday, The New York Times Company announced its first-quarter results for 2017, revealing an impressive number of digital news subscriptions for the start of the year -- it added a whopping 308,000.
SEE ALSO: Trump's 'Access Hollywood' tape now an HR training tool at 21st Century Fox"These results show the current strength and future potential of our digital strategy not just to reach a large audience, but also to deliver substantial revenue," Mark Thompson, president and chief executive officer of The New York Times Company, said in a press release, adding the Q1 number marks the "single best quarter for subscriber growth" in the company's history.
Not too shabby for a failing company.

President Trump has a public hate-hate relationship with the New York Times, tweeting on several occasions the publication was inaccurate in its reporting and a failure. (Behind the scenes, however, he has a close relationship with and apparent respect for Timesreporter Maggie Haberman. POTUS knows where his bread is buttered.)
