Following its epic Emmy wins for Season 1, Abbott Elementaryis finally back with its second season and a whole new school year of hijinks and hilarity.
An excellent (and needed) addition to the mockumentary-style sitcom, Abbott Elementarycenters on a public elementary school in Philadelphia, where a group of teachers tries to be the best possible mentors for their students — despite limited finances and a hilariously unqualified principal (Emmy nominee Janelle James).
If you're looking for a new show reminiscent of the good ol' The Officedays, Abbott Elementary is right up your alley. Here's everything you need to know about its Season 2.
The new season of Abbott Elementaryis airing weekly on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, with the episodes streaming on Hulu the next day. And if you’re looking to rewatch Season 1, all episodes are available to stream on Hulu and HBO Max.
Abbott Elementary's first season was a lively rollercoaster, with everything from TikTok trends taking over the school to the trials and tribulations of implementing a gifted kids program. But at the heart of all the show's antics are its extremely lovable characters, who were all going through quite a bit of change when we last saw them.
Janine (Emmy winner Quinta Brunson) breaks up with her longtime boyfriend Tariq (Zack Fox), to figure out who she is without him. Her school crush, Gregory (Emmy nominee Tyler James Williams) decides to stay at Abbott as a full-time teacher. Meanwhile, the school's more established teachers were also going through some life-changing stuff, with Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) entering the dating game after years of sitting on the sidelines, and Barbara (Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph) navigating new teaching technology and her relationship with her grown daughter.
The yearning between Janine and Gregory also continues to bloom, with Season 2 hopefully giving us more of our favorite ship.
Worry not! Abbott Elementarycontinues to be an incredible hit.
Mashable entertainment reporter Belen Edwards writes that there's "no sign of a sophomore slump in sight," and that Season 2's first episode "will make you feel like you never left."
Edwards also shares that "Each episode deftly combines and re-combines groups of Abbott's teachers so we continue to get an in-depth sense of how everyone relates to — and cares for — each other. These combinations are made even better by the fact that Abbott Elementary continues to have one of the best comedic ensembles on TV."
So get ready to go back to school, because Abbott Elementaryis back in session, and it’s going to be a must-see.
To stream Abbott Elementary, Hulu offers a 30-day free trial for all new subscribers, with a basic plan of $6.99 per month (with ads), and a premium plan of $12.99 per month (with no ads).
