Xiaomi announced on Watch Brooklyn NineTuesday the launch of a new operating system, Xiaomi HyperOS, with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealing the news on social media platform Weibo. Lei stated that Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phone, the Xiaomi 14 series, will mark a departure from the company’s traditional MIUI operating system. The Xiaomi 14 models will be the first phones to run on HyperOS, a fusion of Android and Xiaomi’s self-developed Vela system, he said. Initially, HyperOS will be limited to Chinese versions of Xiaomi phones. Lei stated that HyperOS is designed to facilitate seamless connections between users, vehicles, and smart home devices across more than 200 product categories. [IThome, in Chinese]
