An Australian man's mammoth backyard waterslide has raised the ire of local authorities, family Archives who are concerned that it poses a safety risk.

He installed it adjacent to his backyard pool, where it's received plenty of attention online -- and from the locals.

Sadly for Newton, he received a call from his council who demanded the slide be taken down. It said the slide breached local laws and contravened building codes, after receiving a complaint from neighbour.
"The slide's significant structure is also at odds with the amenity of the residential area due to its excessive height," Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob told the newspaper.
"By providing unrestricted access to the pool, the slide does not meet compulsory safety standards set by the State Government which are required for every private swimming pool in WA, as well as presenting a drowning risk."
Newton has 14 days to dismantle and remove the waterslide, but he's not going down with a fight.
"Ripping it down will suck. I want to work with the council to make it safe and passable so everyone can keep using it," he told 7 News.
It'd certainly be a damn shame if it were gone.
