Mulaney started on SNLas a writer in 2008 and has occasionally appeared on Weekend Update segments, most recently appearing earlier this month alongside Bill Hader, who was playing Stefon. The fan-favorite Stefon was created by Hader and Mulaney, and the duo's last appearance proved to be as hilarious as ever, with the two cracking each other up and breaking on camera.
Along with working on SNL, which earned Mulaney four Emmy nominations, Mulaney was one half of the two-man Broadway production Oh, Hello!and has three hour-long stand-up specials plus another on the way, which is likely the reason for his hosting role.
The new special, Kid Gorgeous, premieres on Netflix May 1.
