For years,Watch FakeHub Originals Vol. 6 Online Game of Thronesfans have longed for one meeting: That of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, united by their blind idealism and good hearts. It took seven years (many more for ASoIaF readers) for fire and ice to meet, and studdenly there's palpable chemistry warming up the drafty rooms of Dragonstone.
But here's the thing: We now know that Jon is not, in fact, Ned Stark's bastard, but Lyanna Stark's, with Rhaegar Targaryen -- Daenerys' brother. That's upsetting and convoluted yet we somehow still might ship these characters...?
So, since my therapist made meit's heavy on all our minds right now, let's break this down. Should Jon and Daenerys get together? Below, a pro and con list as we sort out our complicated feelings about this blooming love.
The North, the Unsullied, the Dothraki, andthe dragons? Under a unified rule? No need to bend the knee here.
This is bending the rules.
Jon and Daenerys have held their respective dying loved ones in their arms and also played some part in said loved ones' deaths. They've spent years getting over the guilt, overcompensating as rulers and distracting themselves with dragons or zombies or whatever. But isn't it time to, you know, get back out there?
What are the chances they figure this out after getting to at least first base and then accuse each other of sabotage and fight for centuries to come? We have enough problems to deal with here!
Does intent matter with incest? 🤔 [Editor's note: No]
The Onion Instigator.
As the only character who ever talks any sense, it is his destiny.
In Season 1, Cersei tells us -- to deflect her relationship with Jaime -- that the Targaryens wed brothers and sisters for years to keep their bloodlines pure. This is time-honored Targaryen tradition!
Has Game of Thronesdesensitized us to incest?
Mary and Matthew were second cousins on Downton Abbey, and we were living for that!
Why were we so invested in Downton...?
In summation, Jon and Daenerys clearly have chemistry and might get together, which will be physically and emotionally confusing for everyone involved, including us. They are almost definitely going to hook up, per the heavy foreshadowing from Davos, the palpable chemistry, and the fact that Jon took her to a cave to have a private conversation (you know what happens to Jon Snow in caves).
Has Game of Thronesmorally bankrupted our society?
Absolutely. Is it Sunday yet?
