They say lightning doesn't strike twice, mum and son sex video but in the case of acting Emmys it's been known to to happen (sometimes much more than twice). For Transparent's Jeffrey Tambor, a second win may just be the beginning.
Tambor faced off against his previous competition, actors Anthony Anderson (black-ish), Will Forte (Last Man on Earth) and William H. Macy (Shameless) as well as the category's young newbies, Aziz Ansari (Master of None) and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley).
"There is no best actor, all right?" Tambor said. "I am so honored to be in this category with these artistic killers."
Tambor was awarded for his second year as Maura Pfefferman on the groundbreaking Amazon series, and concluded his speech by turning the spotlight on transgender talent.
"Please give transgender talent a chance," Tambor said, after shushing the exit music. "Give them auditions, give them a story. I would not be unhappy were I the last cisgender male to play a female transgender on television. We have work to do.”
Transparentreturns to Amazon for Season 3 on Sept. 23.
